Now that the 2020 NFL Draft is officially in the books, the Vikings have announced which numbers the fifteen young men they drafted over the course of the weekend will be wearing. Here is the full list:
- Justin Jefferson - #18
- Jeff Gladney - #20
- Ezra Cleveland - #72
- Cameron Dantzler - #27
- D.J. Wonnum - #57
- James Lynch - #66
- Troy Dye - #45
- Harrison Hand - #29
- K.J. Osborn - #17
- Blake Brandel - #64
- Josh Metellus - #44
- Kenny Willekes - #60
- Nate Stanley - #7
- Brian Cole II - #39
- Kyle Hinton - #68
Jefferson’s selection of #18 is significant for him as a player coming from Louisiana State. Each year, LSU selects one player that is considered a team leader to wear the #18, and gives patches to several other players on the roster with that number on it. The #18 for LSU this past season was worn by defensive end K’Lavon Chaisson, who was a potential consideration for the Vikings with the 22nd overall pick but went to the Jacksonville Jaguars at #20.
“Having 18 at LSU was definitely a big deal and a leadership deal, so definitely coming in, trying to be one of those leaders for the team and providing whatever to the team to make us win,” Jefferson said.
Congratulations to the Vikings’ 2020 draft class on getting their numbers!
