Minnesota Vikings News and Links: April 28th 2020

Hey, at least I got the day right today.......at least I think I did

NFL: NFL Draft Handout Photo-USA TODAY Sports

Merry Tuesday, everyone!

We’re moving along through another mainly home-bound work week. It’s fun to hear the stories from draft day as they continue to leak; trade-ups that almost happened and such. I’m a little bummed to hear that the season may be delayed, but I guess it won’t be a huge surprise if that’s the case. Hey, that’ll allow me to focus on baseball.......if there is a baseball season. Dang it.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

The NFL season may not begin until October, per Skelly10. It had better begin by the time the fishing season ends, or my sanity may be in jeopardy.

Arif posted Norse Code Podcast Episode 324: All Hail the Consensus Board.

Ted wonders if Rick handled the draft like a GM who expects to still be in the Vikings front office in 2021.

According to Peter King, the Vikings tried to trade up with the Buccaneers in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Vikings officially announced the signings of 12 undrafted free agents, per Chris.

GreatOdinsRaven posted Climbing The Pocket: Episode 188 [Is Justin Jefferson an Upgrade Over Stefon Diggs?]. I’m still trying to get an answer as to whether he’s any relation to George Jefferson.

The Packers attempted to trade up with the Vikings to draft Jordan Love, but Rick said “nein”. Actually, he probably said no, I don’t think he speaks German.

Other Vikings/NFL news, and random oddities and annoyances:

The Giants have reportedly elected to place a rare UFA tender on Markus Golden, per CBS Sports.

Jameis Winson has found a team, but he won’t be starting. He’ll be backing up Drew Brees in New Orleans, per FoxSports.

ESPN asks if the Packers are trying to take the ball out of Aaron Rodgers’ hands. If they are, they’ll have to take their time doing it, he has a dead cap hit of $51.1+ million in 2020, and $31.5+ million in 2021, then it drops to $17.2+ million in 2022, per Spotrac.

We come to today’s media selection:

This song got stuck in my head when I made an earlier comment. Now, it can be stuck in your head, too. You’re welcome. Enjoy!

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Wipe the fish guts off of your hands before you touch your face, and try the finger food.

No more Covid 19 discussions.
