So, we started our series of posts about times in sports that made you cry yesterday, and I mentioned that there was only one potential thing pertaining to the Minnesota Vikings that would actually move me to tears.
You probably guessed what it was, and I’m guessing that there are at least a few of you out there that are going to be in the same boat. So, here’s the question:
When. . .not if, but when. . .the Minnesota Vikings win the Super Bowl, will you cry?
Honestly, I’m totally going to. I know I’m going to. Sure, it’ll be because I’m happy to see it, but there’s more to it than that.
When the Vikings win the Super Bowl, I’m guessing that my mind will immediately turn to all of the people I’ve known over the years. . .the people who largely shaped my desire to be a Vikings fan. . .that didn’t get to see it. I know that Ted told us all the stories about his Dad and how he wanted to share a Super Bowl win with him. Unfortunately, as we know, he didn’t get to, and my parents aren’t getting any younger, either. All of my grandparents, Vikings fans from the time the team came into existence, have all long passed and didn’t get to see it, either. I damn sure hope that my parents get to see it happen, which means I hope that it happens soon.
Whenever it happens, though, I’m going to cry. I know I’m going to.
So, how about you? Are you going to cry when the Minnesota Vikings finally get their hands on the big trophy?
