Good Morning!
I made a decision yesterday to allow continued discussion about the ongoing violence in Minneapolis and the reasons surrounding said rioting. I’m going to continue to allow this discussion with the caveat that it doesn’t devolve into overt politics or personal attacks. I realize this will drive some users away, but I’m one of those people who makes a decision and sticks with it, however tread carefully. If you have questions regarding my decision right click my username to show my profile, my email is in there, or you can leave me a message in the thread. Meanwhile we’ll carry on with our news and links full of crockpot recipes, nap strategies and beer recommendations; drop by for some fan wisdom, snark and it’s weekend eve, you should get all your outdoor chores done early, have a beer or two and have a great but safe weekend.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
Chris ponders: Which sports movie moments made you cry? Apparently old videos of NFC Championship Games don’t count.
Kirk Cousins makes ESPN’s list of the world’s highest-paid athletes.
Vikings news from other sources:

PA looks at the importance of the season-opener against the Packers, Tajae Sharpe’s fit within the offense, the additions and subtractions at cornerback this offseason, which under-the-radar rookie might make a big special teams impact in 2020, and more.
Lunchbreak: Frequency of Dalvin Cook’s Speed Bursts Sets Him Apart.
Former NFL wide receiver Cris Carter ranks the five receivers he says had the best hands of all time.
League News:
Consistent with the weekend thread, I’ll post league news in the comments section.
We come to today’s media selection: Barry McQuire - Eve of Destruction
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to wash your hands, be safe in your surroundings and Welcome Aboard!
