Merry Monday, everyone!

Hey, it’s feeling more and more like spring out there. I got the boat out on the river yesterday for the first time since I acquired it. It was the first time I’d been in this boat & on the water since I was five years old, when I was in it fishing with my uncle & my dad. Yesterday, I had my five-year-old son with me, so it was a pretty special day. I’ll have to check the hydraulic pump that runs the power trim, it kept dropping back down after I raised it, so I assume I didn’t bleed the lines well enough when I added fluid. Other than that, the boat ran perfect, and we had a lot of fun for the hour or two we spent out there. Once the fuel tank that I ordered gets here, we’ll be able to spend some real time out there, but we wanted to get out & test it out, so we just went for a short cruise with the little tank that we had.

Now, I only have to get the boat off the trailer for a couple days so I can sand, prime, and repaint the trailer, then add to it the new rollers, jack, hitch, pads, and lights.

Here are some pictures of the finished project, I tried to keep all original, although I had to remove the flooring in order to replace some wood that had rotted. Other than that, it’s all original from 1979 when my uncle purchased it new. I plan to keep it like this for a year or two, in honor of my uncle, then I’m going to do a complete makeover on it, which will most likely consist of a LOT of purple and gold.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

PersecutedinWI put together scouting notes on the Vikings 2020 draft picks.

The Vikings still haven’t ruled out bringing back Everson Griffen, per Chris. I hope to see Griffen back so he can finish his career in Minnesota. The Vikings took a chance on Griffen when they drafted him, and again when they gave him his first big contract before many thought he was worth it, and he’s rewarded them by giving them some very good years on the field, I’d love to see the man finish his career here, he’s traveled a hard road, and emerged victorious through some of life’s toughest struggles.

Wludford does a great job of breaking down Jeff Gladney.

Other Vikings/NFL news, and random oddities and annoyances:

NFL.com ranks all 32 teams’ 2020 draft classes, and you’ll find the good guys near the top of the list.

From ESPN, Andy Dalton has signed a one-year deal with the Cowboys, and rumor has it that the Bears have declined the fifth-year option on QB Mitch Trubisky.

The Sporting News breaks down the best free agents still available at each position.

We come to today’s media selection.

Kiddo and I stumbled across this yesterday while we were playing cards & listening to music. Maybe I just live under a rock, but I’d never heard of this guy before, this is Koe Wetzel. Kiddo and I both liked it, so here you go. Enjoy!

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Wipe the fish guts off of your hands before you touch your face, and try the finger food.
