It’s Monday! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!

Minneapolis, MN 10/3/99 Vikings vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers — Randy Moss catches a 61 yard pass from Randall Cunningham that resulted in the Vikings first touchdown of the game, early in the first quarter.

Happy Monday, everyone!

Finally, we have actual football things to talk about; people throwing and catching and that type of thing. It seems like it’s been years since that type of action has taken place. I spent most of this weekend out on the lake and/or working on the boat, so I was mostly detached from my phone and all other technology, but I caught up on the football-y events last night. Now I need to catch up on all the missed calls and texts.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Justin Jefferson made an amazing one-handed grab, and caused a minor freakout among Vikings fans, per Chris. You see that happen when football activities begin every year. Fans have been starved of football news for months, and they tend to get hyper-excited when athletes do athlete things, I would imagine that this year, they will get hyper-hyper-excited or something like that.

Jeff Gladney was tabbed as the “dark horse” defensive rookie of the year candidate, per Chris. I wonder if horses who have lighter-colored coats feel slighted, they get very little mention, other than in Revelation. It’s not like white colored horses can’t do the same things as dark horses, I don’t think the coat color affects any physical ability, so why the distinction with dark horses? Could light-colored horses have a case for filing a discrimination suit? I think they might. Any lawyers care to chime in?

Other Vikings/NFL news, and random oddities and annoyances:

From the Sporting News, the Washington Redskins plan to announce their new team name today. Whatever they call themselves, they’ll probably still play poorly, with the exception of their running back.

We come to today’s media selection:

Here’s a classic skit by the immortal Monty Python. I think this guy posts on the DN. Enjoy!

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Take the gender hatred elsewhere, it won’t be tolerated
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-If discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t wash your hands, touch each other’s faces often, and try the finger food.
