Rick Spielman is in for a busy afternoon, as the Minnesota Vikings need to sign their draft picks before rookies report to camp tomorrow, and it appears that he’s getting all of that taken care of today.

Linebacker Troy Dye is the third player from the Vikings’ mammoth 15-member draft class to sign his rookie contract. His contract is a four-year deal worth roughly $4 million, including a $650,000 signing bonus.

Dye was the third of the Vikings three fourth-round picks on draft weekend. He played his college ball at the University of Oregon, and was named to the All-Pac 12 Second Team three years in a row.

Dye will be an interesting person to watch for the Vikings’ defense. He’s listed as a linebacker, but he could wind up playing the sort of linebacker/safety hybrid role that has come into style with teams across the NFL. He has the ability to do both as far as playing the run and playing coverage, so that might be what the Vikings have envisioned for him.

We’re going to continue bringing you the news of the Vikings signing their 2020 NFL Draft selections throughout the afternoon with Training Camp just twenty-four hours away for this rookie class.
