Yesterday, we briefly talked about how a change in the NFL rules regarding the COVID-19 situation could potentially benefit running back Dalvin Cook if he were to make good on his threat to sit out of team activities until he received a contract extension.
As it turns out, we were worried about nothing.
During his press conference to talk about his new contract extension, Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer stated that he was told that Cook would be in camp when things get underway on Tuesday.
Who was he told by? Dalvin Cook.
Zimmer said he expects Dalvin Cook to report to camp on Tuesday in spite of his camp pledging a holdout back in June until her reaches a contract extension because Cook told him he would be.

I don’t know if this means that some sort of contract extension is getting close to completion, but that could very well be the case. In any event, it doesn’t appear as though we’re going to be talking about a Dalvin Cook holdout after all.
In another personnel-related matter, Zimmer said that he would “love” to have veteran defensive end Everson Griffen back in the fold, but did not know if there were any talks going on between Griffen and the Vikings at this point. He did say that Griffen had texted him to congratulate him on the contract extension.
So, there’s some Vikings-related news for this Saturday morning. It appears that everything is on track to start with Training Camp on Tuesday, and though we’re not going to be able to physically be there or anything, we will do everything we can to get you any relevant news as soon as it happens.
