UPDATE: The waiving of Quentin Poling was the move that the Vikings made to add Steven Parker to the roster. The team had an exemption for Parker until he cleared the necessary COVID-19 protocols.
Eric’s original post follows.
TCO Performance Center in Eagan is officially no longer a Poling Place.
After signing linebacker Quentin Poling to the team all of eleven days ago, the Minnesota Vikings have announced that they are now waiving him. Before signing with the Vikings, Poling was most recently with the Las Vegas Raiders. He was drafted in the seventh round of 2018 by the Dolphins and also had a stint on the Atlanta Falcons practice squad.
In the past month, the Vikings have signed two former Raiders that have lasted less than a total of two weeks. The Vikings traded for defensive lineman P.J. Hall on August only to have him fail his physical and have the trade voided the following day.
There was no corresponding roster move immediately announced with the Poling move, so it would appear that the Vikings temporarily have a vacant spot on their 80-man roster.
The Vikings will move on from their exit Poling and hold their first padded practice of the season Monday afternoon at 2:15 PM CT. The practice will be broadcast live; you can check out all of the ways to watch here.
