Merry Tuesday, everyone!
We’re making our way through another lovely work week, and as I said in the intro, changes to the site should be here soon. By soon, I mean sometime this week. I still haven’t seen a confirmation on the day/time, but when I do get said confirmation, rest assured that you here at the open thread will hear about it immediately. I am as unhappy as any of you about the recent updates, and Rob and I will continue to voice our opinions and do whatever we can to encourage the return of the features that made this site function as well as it did for us here. I’m sure the new format works well for threads with under 200 comments, but the open thread usually passes that amount by about 9 am on most days. It sounds like quite a few features will be returning soon, and more will follow in the days and weeks to follow.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
Danielle Hunter has been absent from much of training camp, per Chris. Yikes, it would not be good news for our defense if he were to miss significant time in the regular season.
Other Vikings/NFL news, and random oddities and annoyances:
Vikings.com has all the highlights from Monday’s training camp, and listen to Brian Billick say that even though the NFC is stacked, the Vikings have what it takes to win the NFC and the Super Bowl.
From DawgsbyNature, the Browns have lost rookie S Grant Delphit for the season due to a torn achilles.
Trevor Siemian was signed by the Titans a week ago, and he says trying to catch up is like drinking from a fire hose, according to the Tennessean. Vrabel must have some very unorthodox training camp exercises, and I don’t know how many times Siemian has drank from a fire hose, but you’d think that would be a bit dangerous. Meh, what do I know?
We come to today’s media selection:
Here’s a pretty cool highlight reel of the NFL’s best safety, and my current favorite Viking, Harrison Smith. Enjoy!
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Take the gender hatred elsewhere, it won’t be tolerated
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-If discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t wash your hands, touch each other’s faces often, and try the finger food
