Vikings activate Barr, Odenigbo from COVID-19 list

The number keeps getting smaller

NFL: Atlanta Falcons at Minnesota Vikings Ben Ludeman-USA TODAY Sports

Some good news coming out of Eagan today, as the Minnesota Vikings continue to reduce the number of players that they have on their reserve/COVID-19 list, removing two starters from it today.

The Vikings have taken both linebacker Anthony Barr and defensive end Ifeadi Odenigbo from the COVID-19 list. That means that after leading the league with eight players on that list just a few days ago, they are now down to five.

Odenigbo was one of three players that was placed on the COVID-19 list when veterans reported to camp last week, along with linebacker Cameron Smith and offensive lineman Oli Udoh. He’s projected to take over for Everson Griffen as a starting defensive end this year, and we’re expecting big things from him in that role this season.

Barr was placed on the list this past Thursday, and thankfully is already off of it. He has been a mainstay of the Vikings’ defense since his rookie season.

The five players that remain on the Vikings’ reserve/COVID-19 list are as follows:

  • S Brian Cole II
  • OL Tyler Higby
  • WR Justin Jefferson
  • LB Cameron Smith
  • OL Oli Udoh

Hopefully we’ll be seeing the team removing them from the list in short order as well.
