Weekend Open Thread

SUPER BOWL VIII - Miami Dolphins v Minnesota Vikings

Good Morning!

With the announcement that Coral is coming and we’ll have a limited gif library (at least for the time being) I’m going to start dumping gifs from my giphy account that I’ve accumulated over the last....checks calendar....six years. Some of them have a meaning to me or reason why I kept it in my gif library, I’ll provide an explanation as we go along during the weekend and into next week. Meanwhile we’ll carry on with our news and links full of crockpot recipes, nap strategies and beer recommendations; drop by for some fan wisdom, snark and it’s the weekend, get the smoker started, get all your outdoor chores done early, and have a beer or two, it’s going to be a great weekend!

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Norse Code Podcast Episode 330: The Trade That Wasn’t. Arif and James are back to talk about Rick’s extension, the trade that wasn’t, a little bit of training camp news, and a fantastic mailbag. And the lottery for the Norse Code Fantasy League is officially open! Sign up to hurt yourself at norsecodepodcast@gmail.com or DM @norsecodedn.

Vikings news from other sources:

From Vikings.com: QB Kirk Cousins addressed the media via a video conference call on Friday on how the Vikings Take That Next Step, Offensive Continuity, To-Do List For The Offense In Camp, and More.

S Harrison Smith addressed the media via a video conference call on Friday and noted Expectations Won’t Change Defensively Despite Youth at Cornerback.

Co-Defensive Coordinator Andre Patterson addressed the media via a video conference call on Friday on Competition at DT, Early Impressions of Rookies, Depth at CB.

League News:

Consistent with the weekend thread, I’ll post league news in the comments section.

We come to today’s media selection: REM - It’s the End of the World and I Feel Fine

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to wash your hands, try the buffet and Welcome Aboard!

Topic of the Day: With the changes in the defensive back field and along the defensive line, what is your expectation of the Vikings defense this year?
