Good morning.......or something,
That game sucked. I can’t think of any other words to describe how the Vikings played as a team, as positional units, or as individuals in yesterdays’ game without mentioning the word ‘sucked’. To those of you who didn’t watch the game, first, I’m jealous, and second, don’t let the 34 points scored by the Vikings fool you, the offense sucked. They had a whopping 10 points on the board when the Packers went into ‘let them score, but not quickly’ mode (the same mode the Vikings’ defense played in all day, but they forgot about the “but not quickly” part) and the offense somehow managed to luck the ball into the end zone a few times, but prior to that, we had ONE decent drive on the day. That drive was capped off by a Dalvin Cook TD. That’s it. The other 3 points came at the end of the half, and it was a gift given to the Vikes by S Darnell Savage, on a dumb play with 2 seconds remaining, which earned him a personal foul and gave Bailey a chance to try out his leg. Otherwise, the O would have only had 7 non-garbage-time points yesterday. I’m not sure what it is, but our offense plays like stinky a** against the Packers defense, which isn’t even a very good defense. I don’t get it. At least the defense didn’t let the offense suck alone yesterday.
I don’t put a lot of stock in one loss, never have. This one concerns me more than most years, simply because the team looked bad in all facets of the game, and they looked like a team who showed up thinking they were playing an exhibition game for fun, and the other team showed up to play ball. I hope it’s an anomaly, and that they’ll come out firing on all 8 cylinders next week. I hope. If not, I’ll watch but I’ll be thinking about fishing. I probably won’t put many links up today, it’s hard to look for good football stories after seeing that garbage today. Maybe I’ll find a good fishing story.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
Chris has the post-game wrap-up.
Chris posted the final score of yesterday’s game.
The Vikings signed Dalvin Cook to a five-year contract extension, per Chris. The deal is reportedly worth a total of $63 million, with $28 million guaranteed.
Other Vikings/NFL news, and random oddities and annoyances:
Here are the rest of the week 1 NFL scores, courtesy of NFL.com.
I don’t want to read through the stories, so here’s a link to Vikings.com, they usually have game highlights, if they can find one from yesterday.
From KFYR TV on MSN, there has been a lot of craziness with Covid-19, but one bright spot is that fishing participation is WAY up.
We come to today’s media selection:
I dunno, here’s one from Ugly Kid Joe. Enjoy!
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Sorry about the smell, we watched the game in here yesterday, and we haven’t been able to get rid of the stink from that game yet.
