I’m still on service this weekend, so I’ll be following the game via game pass, Twitter and whatever legal means I can think of to see how our favorite teams does against the Colts. I don’t think I’m in the minority when I say I’m excited to see what Dru Samia can do as a starter at right guard on Sunday. As I posted elsewhere, I hope he plays well and can lock down the position for the rest of the season. Meanwhile we’ll carry on with our news and links open thread full of crockpot recipes, nap strategies and beer recommendations; drop by for some fan wisdom, snark and it’s the weekend, time to light the smoker and crack open a cold beverage.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
Eric’s Weekly Preview article: Vikings at Colts Week 2 Preview: Mustn’t. Week 2 can never be a “must win” game, but both the Vikings and Colts must show a lot of improvement to rebound from disappointing season-opening losses. (A day late, I blame the all-22 and Ponder)
Chris has your Vikings at Colts Final Injury Reports: Cameron Dantzler officially OUT for Minnesota, but he’s the only one.
Climbing The Pocket: Episode 193 [Kirkulean Effort] Eric Eager, Nick Olson, Myles Gorham, and Flipmazzi joined Jayson Brown to discuss our Vikings.
Vikings add Brett Jones to 53-man roster, Dru Samia likely to start at RG.
Norse Code Podcast Episode 337: Some Possibility Definitely (with guest Jake Arthur). Norse Code returns today to preview the Colts match-up and discuss the injury to Pat Elflein. How are teams using IR this year differently and how will this affect injury reporting moving forward? How useless IS a retractable roof? And how do you peel an orange correctly?
Vikings news from other sources:
Final Thoughts: Vikings Focused on Task Ahead, Looking to Bounce Back in Week 2.
NFL Expert Picks: Toss Up Between Vikings and Colts.
Consistent with the Saturday thread, I’ll post league news in the comments.
We come to today’s media selection: Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to wash your hands, wear a mask, FTP and Welcome Aboard!
