On Monday, the Minnesota Vikings once again did some shuffling of the defensive backs on their practice squad.
The team has announced that they have signed safety Luther Kirk. To make room for him on the practice squad, they have waived Nate Meadors.
Kirk went undrafted this past season after playing his college ball at Illinois State and signed with the Dallas Cowboys after the draft concluded. He was the Defensive MVP of this past year’s East-West Shrine Game as well. He was waived by the Cowboys as a part of their final cuts and did not find another team until the Vikings signed him today.
Meadors spent much of the 2019 season on the Vikings’ practice squad and was elevated to the team’s active roster for this year’s season opener. He came to the team as a cornerback but had worked this preseason at safety.
The Vikings are still looking for meaningful depth at safety behind Harrison Smith and Anthony Harris. They do have safety George Iloka on the practice squad and elevated him to the main roster before Sunday’s loss to Tennessee.
