Merry Tuesday, everyone!
Alright, we’re done with the last game, and getting ready for the next. It doesn’t get any easier for the Vikings, as they will head southward to Houston for a showdown at high noon on Sunday against the Texans. The Texans won their division last year, then pulled off a comeback in the wild card round to beat the Bills, then lost in the divisional round via a comeback victory by the Chiefs. If I recall correctly, the Texans were up 24-0 in the first quarter of that game, then got smoked like a cheap cigar from the second quarter on and lost by 20. Ouch. Anyway, if the Vikings want to turn their season around, this would be a good place to start. They’d better show up ready to play, and let’s hope they look more like they did in the first half of Sunday’s game, and less like they’ve looked in the other 10 quarters of football they’ve played this season.
I asked a favor yesterday, and I’ll post it again here. Rob and I are doing something in an attempt to re-improve the open thread, and we could use some help from you. For those of you who have been frequenters of the open thread through the years, and have an opinion, positive or negative, on the changed format, its functionality, ease of commenting, etc., I would greatly appreciate it if you would shoot me an email sharing that opinion. My email address is in my profile. I assure you that your email addresses will remain anonymous, we would only share the text of your opinions related to the site. Many of you responded yesterday, and I thank you all for taking the time to do so (I will be replying to your emails to thank you as well, but I haven’t gotten a chance to do so yet). Thanks in advance to those of you who respond, it is appreciated.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
GA Skol provides snap counts and his analysis from Sunday’s game.
for your listening pleasure, Luft Krigare and the fellas are back with Vikings vs Titans: GMG In The Raw.
Other Vikings/NFL news, and random oddities and annoyances:
From NFL.com, the Chiefs dominated the Ravens on MNF last night, and also from NFL.com, Patrick Mahomes accumulated 10,000 yards in record time.
We come to today’s media selection:
Here’s a great tune from Clint Black, a country singer who sang actual country music, which is a rarity these days. I love country music, it’s too bad country music stations don’t play it anymore. Enjoy this one.
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Take the gender hatred elsewhere, it won’t be tolerated
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-If discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer}
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on, you’ll have to stand, yesterday’s melt down disintegrated all of the picnic tables.
