Vikings waive S Josh Metellus

Another of the team’s draft picks is out

NFL: Combine Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

We’re starting to get wind of some of the cuts that the Minnesota Vikings are making in their efforts to get the roster down to 53 players by 3:00 PM Central time. The first one we’ve gotten this Saturday morning is another one of their draft picks being waived.

The Vikings have, reportedly, waived safety Josh Metellus.

Metellus was one of the Vikings’ three sixth-round picks in this past April’s draft after a successful career at the University of Michigan. It was thought that he could have an opportunity to be a sort of “hybrid” safety that floats between the safety and linebacker positions in the Vikings’ defense, but if that is the case, he will likely have to do so after starting out on the practice squad.

We will be tracking all of the Vikings’ roster moves this morning and afternoon as the team gets their initial 53-man roster set. You can keep track of all the cuts with our roster cut tracker, which is conveniently located at the top of our front page or at this link here.
