As it turns out, we did not have to wait long to find out what the Minnesota Vikings were doing to round out their quarterback depth chart.

The team has reportedly waived quarterback Nate Stanley, who they drafted in the seventh round of this past April’s draft.

Stanley had a successful college career at the University of Iowa and was one of the Vikings’ four seventh-round picks this April. The team would reportedly like to bring him back to be a part of the practice squad.

With the practice squads expanding to 16 players for this season due to COVID-19 concerns, it sounds like the Vikings want to have two quarterbacks on the practice squad this season. With Kirk Cousins and Sean Mannion on the main roster, it looks like the team will make every effort to bring both Stanley and Jake Browning, who was waived earlier this morning, back to the practice squad.

You can track all of the moves the Vikings are making on this roster deadline day right here.
