The safety depth chart is a little thin right now

With the best pair of safeties in the NFL in their defensive backfield, the question for the Minnesota Vikings this preseason has been who will back them up. The team has waived a couple of the players that competed for those spots this offseason.

Reports are surfacing that the Vikings have waived safeties Myles Dorn and Steven Parker.

Dorn was signed by the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina this past April. He was a player that a lot of teams pursued in the UDFA process, but ultimately signed with Minnesota.

The Vikings claimed Parker off of waivers during Training Camp from the Miami Dolphins. Parker had started several games for the Dolphins at safety in 2019.

Right now, the Vikings do not have any backups listed at safety behind Anthony Harris and Harrison Smith, so that’s a position that the team will likely be pursuing on the waiver wire once the roster deadline passes at 3:00 PM Central.
