Vikings confirm 13 practice squad signings

Here’s who is on the squad, per the team themselves

New York Giants v Minnesota Vikings

While we’ve been tracking the Minnesota Vikings’ practice squad signings, and will continue to do so throughout the course of the day, the team has officially announced that 13 of the 16 spots on the squad have been filled.

Here is the full list of everyone the Vikings have added, per the team.

  • FB Jake Bargas
  • OT Blake Brandel
  • QB Jake Browning
  • OL Aviante Collins
  • TE Brandon Dillon
  • CB Mark Fields
  • OL Kyle Hinton
  • WR Alexander Hollins
  • OL Brett Jones
  • LB Blake Lynch
  • CB Nate Meadors
  • S Josh Metellus
  • QB Nate Stanley

As you can see, all 13 players are guys that the Vikings had in Training Camp with them this year, including four of the six draft picks they waived as part of yesterday’s cutdowns (Brandel, Hinton, Metellus, Stanley).

On our roster cut tracker, we also had kicker Chase McLaughlin, who had spent some time on the team’s practice squad last season, signing with the squad again. If that is the case, that gives the Vikings 14 of their 16 practice squad members.

It’s interesting that none only one of the spots, at least to this point, has been filled by a veteran that ordinarily would not qualify but have been given the ability to be on the practice squad thanks to COVID-19 concerns. That would be Brett Jones, who is once again back with the team.

(My apologies. . .I forgot that Jones checks the “veteran” box. The correction is above.)

One other move that the Vikings made was to place UDFA DB Myles Dorn on injured reserve. Dorn was waived with an injury designation yesterday, and since nobody claimed him on waivers the Vikings can put him on IR.

We will continue to track what the Vikings are doing and see how things work out as far as the construction of the practice squad.
