Happy Tuesday, everyone!
The Vikings lost one of their biggest and most loyal fans over the weekend. My wife’s uncle Ron passed away after a brief battle with cancer. He was a retired math teacher, a Vikings fan, and a very good man, I always enjoyed visiting with him. So, Mrs. Fishin will be heading to Billings for Wednesday’s funeral, which means it’s kiddo and I home alone for the next three days. Look out, Bismarck!
I hope everyone got their work week off to a good start. I don’t know about y’all’s necks of the woods, but it’s unusually warm here on Hoth. This is a rarity, but we’re expecting 50 degrees one day this week, and if my math is correct, this week is in the month of January. We normally don’t see 50 degrees in January in North Dakota, and if we do, it’s normally 50 degrees below zero, not above zero. Hweird.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
From Ted! It’s the Vikings Report WIth Drew and Ted, ep 2.
Other Vikings/NFL news and random oddities and annoyances:
Here’s the latest over at Vikings.com, Dalvin Cook has been nominated for the FedEx Ground player of the Year, while Justin Jefferson is a finalist for the 2020 Pepsi Zero NFL Rookie of the Year award and was also named to the Associated Press 2020 All-Pro second team.
Dan Quinn has been hired as the new Cowboys Defensive Coordinator, per the Fort Worth Star Telegram. That should turn out to be a good hire by the Cowboys, but I thought that same thing when Atlanta hired him as their head coach. Quinn had a lot of success as DC in Seattle, but did not have that same success as a HC.
Wow, talk about a short honeymoon. Only three years after bringing Philadelphia its first Superb Owl trophy, Doug Pederson has been fired as head coach of the Eagles, per FoxSports.
We come to today’s media selection:
Here’s one of the many greats from Widespread Panic, this is Tall Boy. Enjoy!
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Take the gender hatred elsewhere, it won’t be tolerated
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-If discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on, don’t forget to tip the cows and settle in, it’s going to be a long off season.
