C.J. Ham likes pineapple on pizza, apparently

And with a name like that, it makes sense, right?

Let’s go ahead and mark this as the point where we officially declared the offseason to be underway.

The owners of Sunny’s Pizzeria in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, decided to name one of their pizzas after Minnesota Vikings fullback C.J. Ham. And why wouldn’t they? Not only did Ham play his college football at Augustana, which is located in Sioux Falls, but ham on pizza is pretty damn good.

(Or “Canadian Bacon.” Whatever. For the purposes of this story, it’s ham.)

Ham was in Sioux Falls recently. . .again, this makes sense. . .and decided to swing by the pizzeria and give his namesake pie a try. According to owners Jon and Katy Oppold, Ham declared that the pizza was delicious.

So, what goes on a C.J. Hammer pizza from Sunny’s? Well, here’s the list.

  • An alfredo base rather than traditional pizza sauce
  • Ham
  • Bacon
  • Jalapeno
  • Pineapple
  • Siracha drizzle

I’m not gonna lie. . .that sounds pretty damn good, to be honest. However, it does lead us into a debate that has probably taken place in the Open Threads somewhere, but let’s bring it here, too.

I know that some people are pretty passionate about this. . .for whatever reason. . .but I think it’s just okay. Pineapple isn’t one of my first choices for pizza toppings, honestly, but I’m not going to turn it down or anything, either.

Has anyone else tried the C.J. Hammer from Sunny’s? If so, what are your thoughts?
