The Chiefs and the Buccanneers, it’s now official

Happy Monday, everyone!

I hope all of you had a relaxing and enjoyable weekend. I’m in the midst of a project, I’m hard-wiring internet throughout my house (and the basement in my house is fully finished), so those of you who have done this will know why my frustration level was at defcon-one by yesterday afternoon (although watching the Packers lose alleviated that quite a bit). If you’re ever in the mood to get really mad, this is the project for you. I still want to break things.

Well, it’s now official that the Buccanneers will face the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. If it’s possible, I’d love to get a count of how many times the phrase “changing of the guard” will be uttered by folks in the sports media over the course of the next two weeks. Whatever the count turns out to be, it would have to be a new record. Blech.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Vikings nearly traded Stefon Diggs to the Patriots, Chris has the details.

Secret Base rewinds the Minneapolis Miracle.

Chris has the Daily Norseman staff picks conference championship round results.

Chris did a brief review of the Vikings 2021 NFL draft picks.

Other Vikings/NFL news and random oddities and annoyances:

Here are scores and highlights from NFL Conference Championship action over the weekend, from NFL.com.

From CBS Sports, Aaron Rodgers is unhappy about the officiating in their loss yesterday. Rodgers is no stranger to bad calls, the number of bad calls that are made in games he plays in is north of infinity (infinity where they quit counting, nobody knew which number came next). he’s just not accustomed to the calls not benefitting him. Seeing him whimper makes me happy. Does that make me a bad person?

Rodgers said his future with the Packers is ‘uncertain’, according to NFL.com. Now, I’ve gone from happy to giddy, I’m almost ready to start up that wiring project again........almost.

We come to today’s media selection:

Let’s hear Kid Rock’s reaction to Aaron Rodgers and his complaints about officiating in yesterday’s loss.

Thanks! I agree with everything except the comment about Def Leppard, but we’ll forgive you for that.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Take the gender hatred elsewhere, it won’t be tolerated
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-If discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on, don’t forget to tip the cows and settle in, it’s going to be a long off season.
