Merry Tuesday, everyone!
Normally, this is the time of year when coaches and staff would be busy evaluating & interviewing potential draftees, we’d be looking forward to draft day, and for me, I would normally be prepping for the annual 3-day draft party at the house. However, since 2020 flung Normal out the window, my draft party is cancelled, the coaches are allowed very little contact with prospects, there won’t be a combine, and I’m guessing they will hold another virtual draft similar to last year.
The restrictions have to be a nightmare for scouts and the front office. I don’t see the doc being able to find an underlying medical condition during the medical examination that they conduct via Zoom. I see the lack of data being especially detrimental to talent evaluators who rely heavily on metrics, and likely having a much lesser effect on evalutators who lean more heavily on game film. It should be an interesting draft. Hey, maybe the Packers will move up in the first to draft a 3rd round quarterback prospect again, that would be fun.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
The Vikings can add “defensive backs coach’ to thieir off-season need-to-hire list. LSU is planning to hire Datone Jones as their next defensivle coordinator, per Chris.
Ted dropppd off their latest podcast: Vikings Report With Drew and Ted, Episode 4.
Rob has the answers to ALL of your questions as he opens the Daily Norsmean mailbag.
Other Vikings/NFL news and random oddities & annoyances:
From FoxSports, All-Pro center Corey Linsley hasn’t heard from the Packers about signing a new contract. Hey there Corey, there’s a team only a few hours to the west of where you are now, if you signed here, it wouldn’t take you as long to move your stuff. Give the team a little time, they’re going through the........body cavities......of all front office personnel in search of a little more cap space that they can pull out and use. This might take a while, please be patient.
Former Vikings DC and head coach Leslie Friazier is going to be interveiwed a second time for the Texans vacant head coaching position, per NFL.com. Good for him! Frazier didn’t have a great deal of success as head coach in MInnesota, but he’s a good person, & I’m glad to see him having success. If he does get a second shot at a HC gig, I hope it’s at a good organization, I wish him all the best.
We come to today’s media selection:
This is one of my favorite compositions, Mozart’s Concerto for Flute and Harp, second movement. Enjoy!

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on, don’t forget to tip the cows and settle in, it’s going to be a long off season.
