The regular season is over, but our staff NFL picks are going to continue right on through the end of the season, and with the playoffs kicking off tomorrow, there’s no time like the present to get our Wild Card Weekend selections out to you.
First off, I’d like to congratulate Eric on winning our regular season title by a significant margin. Here’s how the final standings looked when it was all said and done.
- Eric Thompson: 171-85 (12-4 last week)
- Warren Ludford: 166-88 (12-4 last week)
- Christopher Gates: 162-94-0 (14-2 last week)
- Ed Brodmarkle: 153-88 (13-3 last week)
Yeah, we all pretty well killed it in Week 17 of the regular season, but Eric got out to a big enough lead where nobody could catch him. Congratulations to him on his superior prognostication skills!
If you’re curious, here’s how we all fared against the spread, since that’s one of the things that our friends at Tallysight do. We’ll do this by percentage.
- Ed Brodmarkle: 120-113
- Warren Ludford: 118-121
- Christopher Gates: 122-133
- Eric Thompson: 114-140
Yeah. . .we’re not great at the whole spread thing. I hope none of you were using our picks for gambling purpose. I mean, I’ve told you not to. You would have done alright to follow Ed, though.
And how we fared at over/unders since Tallysight tracks that as well.
- Ed Brodmarkle: 116-109
- Eric Thompson: 126-126
- Christopher Gates: 121-132
- Warren Ludford: 106-130
Overall, your Daily Norseman team wound up at #4 (out of 116 media organizations) on the Tallysight leaderboard. That’s not too shabby, eh?

Alright, now that I’ve bored you with all of that, let’s get to the actual picks for this week. We have a consensus on three of the six games this weekend, and three where we differ.
Here are the games where we have disagreements:
- Rams at Seahawks: SPLIT! Ed and Chris have Seattle, Warren and Eric have Los Angeles
- Buccaneers at Football Team: Ed has Washington, everyone else has Tampa Bay
- Browns at Steelers: Ed has Cleveland, everyone else has Pittsburgh
Everyone has Buffalo over Indianapolis, Baltimore over Tennessee, and New Orleans over Chicago.
Those are the picks for this week, folks? Who have you got on this first weekend of NFL playoff action?
