Nincompoop of the Week: Week 5 (Lions)

Pick who you think is a nincompoop this week. This is supposed to be fun, relax and enjoy.

Bashaud Breeland - Why is Bashaud a nincompoop? Two reasons Bashaud is a nincompoop this week. First, he had a DPI penalty called on him and the boo birds were signing at US Bank Stadium. Those boos were likely more for the refs, but Bashaud is a little sensitive these days. He stars asking for louder boos, not a good look for the worst rated CB in the league. Second, after the game he tweets out some ridiculously lewd comment towards the fans that aren’t happy. Hopefully we don’t see much more of Breeland on or off the field. Hope you enjoyed getting run over by D’Andre Swift.

Alexander Mattison - Why is Mattison a nincompoop? You had a simple job on 3rd and long just after the two minute warning. Run the ball in bounds and don’t fumble. He was a long ways away from getting a first down, but was fighting for that last year and fumbled. It reminded me a lot of a Adrian Peterson mistake. Nincompoopish to keep fighting and putting the ball at risk. Nearly cost the team a win.

Klint Kubiak - Why is Klint a nincompoop? Anyone who watched the offense in the 2nd half can clearly see why Klint is a nominee. The offensive play calling was inept and not nearly aggressive enough. The Red Zone offense is predictable. The team had plenty of time to operate with the OL playing decently well. The offense is not creative and it feels like it should be when you have Justin Jefferson, Adam Thielen, KJ Osborn and Kirk Cousins back there.

Mike Zimmer - Why is Mike a nincompoop? Far too often Zimmer lead teams let the opposing team stick around way too long. The Lions were a bad team begging to be blown out on Sunday. There are just key mistakes that seem to happen constantly. Also, I know Breeland was out there because of COVID absences, but anyone who chooses to continue to play the worst CB in the league is a nincompoop in my book. Hopefully, they don’t make the same mistake with Hill and put Darrisaw out there this upcoming Sunday.

GA Skol - Why am I a nincompoop? I picked the Vikes -9.5 in our staff picks. I actually considered placing the bet in real life. Thought about hitting up the sports books a few hours away in North Carolina, but ended up not going up. I really thought about placing a decent amount on a bounce-back blowout win for the Vikes. I actually felt dumb for not placing it when the team was up by 10 and got the ball back in the 4th, figuring they would score and the Lions would be unable to score the TD. I should know better by now. Mike Zimmer teams and the Vikings in general do not win like that.
