Coming off of their bye weeks, the Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys were back to work on Wednesday with their first practices of the week. That also means the first injury reports of the week for each team, so let’s take a look at who’s doing what in practice so far.

Limited Participation

  • DE Dorance Armstrong (ankle)
  • CB Trevon Diggs (ankle)

Full Participation

  • DE Randy Gregory (knee)
  • WR Cedrick Wilson (shoulder)
  • S Donovan Wilson (groin)

Obviously, the big one here is Prescott. Everything we’ve seen over the past few days would appear to point to the Cowboys’ star QB being ready to go for Sunday night, but the Cowboys appear to not be taking any chances, at least thus far. It would obviously be a significant advantage for the Vikings if he were to sit out on Sunday night, but I honestly don’t think that’s going to happen.

Diggs being slowed down a bit is obviously big news as well, given the season that he’s having thus far. However, like Prescott, I don’t think he’s in any real danger of missing Sunday’s game or anything like that.

Minnesota Vikings

Did Not Participate

  • DT Michael Pierce (elbow)
  • WR Dede Westbrook (ankle)

Limited Participation

  • LB Anthony Barr (knee)
  • TE Ben Ellefson (knee/foot)

Full Participation

  • RB Alexander Mattison (shoulder)
  • WR Adam Thielen (foot)

This is certainly a much shorter injury report than we’ve been used to seeing from the Vikings in recent weeks. Pierce continues to be out with the injury he suffered against the Seahawks and aggravated against the Browns, causing him to miss the Vikings’ last two games before the bye. The Vikings sure could use him against Dallas’ top-notch running attack, but the week certainly hasn’t gotten off to an optimistic start on that front.

There were numerous reports on social media earlier today that Ellefson may have aggravated something during practice today as well. The team has protected Luke Stocker from being poached from the practice squad for this week, so he might be in line to be elevated again if Ellefson has to sit out any longer.

Those are the first injury reports of the week for the Cowboys and the Vikings, folks. There are a couple of very significant stories to track here, and we’ll be doing just that through the course of the week.
