Happy Monday, y’all!
We’re kicking off another week of fun in the sun........well, we don’t have much sun up here, and it’s supposed to be below zero for the high one day this week, but we can still have fun. As I was writing this, I spelled February, then I wondered why they spell it so dumb, and then I thought “GTS!” (GTS stands for google that......stuff, a phrase used often in our office when a question is asked). So, I googled that.....stuff, and I found out some cool facts, courtesy of Dictionary.com. Did you know that February used to be called Cabbage Month, and was also called Mud Month? I didn’t either, but I do now, and so do you. We’ll all sleep better tonight now, you’re welcome.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
wludford takes a look at the State of the NFC North.
Former Viking Kenechi Udeze has been hired by the Titans as an assisstant coach, per Chris.
Chris shared the report that Matthew Stafford has been traded to the Rams. Acquiring Stafford wasn’t cheap, reports say the Rams gave up two firsts and a third, and also sent Jared Goff to Detroit in order to bring Stafford to LA. There were reportedly other teams in the mix who were also willing to give up multiple first-round picks, according to CBS Sports. This move should make the Rams one of the favorites to compete for the title next year; they had the number one defense in the NFL last year, and now they’ll also have a potent offense to go along with it. Stafford is probably a very happy man today, he should thrive in that offense.
Other Vikings/NFL news and random odditites and annoyances:
CBS Sports has a couple of interesting stories surrounding the Stafford/Rams trade, the Rams reportedly tried trading for Aaron Rodgers prior to trading for Stafford. They also reported that Stafford nixed any potential deal that would send him to the Patriots. Interesting.
We come to today’s media selection:
I’m not sure why this song is stuck in my head, but it is, so here you go. Enjoy!
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on, don’t forget to tip the cows and settle in, it’s going to be a long off season.
