We’ve hit the peak of another glorious work week, now we can coast into the weekend

Happy happy Wednesday, everyone!

Ah, the weekend is within sight. I’m not sure about the various necks of y’alls woods, but here in balmy Hoth North Dakota, we’re having a stretch of brutally cold weather. You know, it’s the kind of cold that you can’t comprehend unless you’ve lived in it. It’s the kind of cold where you go outside for a bit, and you think you may have actually frozen your soul. There’s relief in sight, though, they claim that the high is supposed to get above zero today! Not by much, the forecast is calling for a high of 1, but hey, if it’s above zero, we’ll take it. Now that’s if it actually happens, they promised us one degree above zero this past Sunday, too, and it didn’t even get close. If it does make it there tomorrow, we’d better get out and enjoy it, because after tomorrow, we aren’t going to see the plus side of zero again until next Monday. The high on Thursday is supposed to be negative 7. That’s the high, and yes, that’s actual temp, not wind chill. I think I may take the Tauntaun out for a ride

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Mike and Ed take a look at the 2021 season, and where the Vikings can go from here on Skoldiers - 086 - 2021 Begins.

The Vikings signed veteran K Greg Joseph, Chris has the details. After Bailey stumbled toward the end of the season.......well, he stumbled, then fell down, then couldn’t get up, then couldn’t get his flip flop on, then...... you get the picture. Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah, after Bailey sucked it up in the last part of the season, it’s not surprising that the team brought in someone to either light a fire under Bailey......or maybe to help him pack. We shall see.

Other Vikings/NFL news and random oddities and annoyances:

As you may have heard, Tampa’s mayor berated fans for celebrating during the Super Bowl without their masks on. Well, her hypocrisy was displayed for all to see on social media, and people let her know, per Fox News. That’s awesome, folks like her are the reason I stopped going on social media.

Britt Reid was placed on adminstrative leave by the Chiefs, per Fox News. The linebackers coach was involved in a car crash that left a 5-year old girl seriously injured. The Chiefs are handling this right, from what I can see. They’ve reached out to the family of the injured girl to offer support and resources. Reid claimed to have had two or three drinks, which if true, should not put him over the legal limit, but the tests could take 4-8 weeks, according to the story. Here’s a statement from the person who set up a Go-fund-me account for the injured little girl:

“Thank you again to everyone donating and sending so many prayers and kind words to the family. Ariel remains in the same condition and hasn’t woken up yet. We don’t have any other updates as of right now,” she wrote.

Prayers to her and her family, what a sad and horrible thing to have happened, and to such an innocent life.

We come to today’s media selection:

Uhhhhh....after some second thoughts (and a second opinion), I took my initial idea off of here. Here’s one from one of the best guitarists to ever walk the planet, this is the great Stevie Ray Vaughn. Enjoy!

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls-Take the gender hatred elsewhere, it won’t be tolerated
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-If discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on, don’t forget to tip the cows and settle in, it’s going to be a long off season.
