Merry Hump Day, everyone!
Hey, is it just me, or is this off-season moving even slower than the normal off-season? Man, it seems like the Super Bowl ended a couple months ago. Well, baby steps will help us get through this, so for now, let’s focus on surviving the work week so we can get to the weekend. Anyone have plans for the weekend? Kiddo and I have a weekend of ice fishing planned, we’ll squeeze in some sleep here and there, and hopefully many meals featuring yummy walleye (or perch, they work, too). I don’t know why it is, but fish that’s pan fried on the shore, or in this case, in the ice house, tastes better than it does anywhere else. I hope to put that opinion to the test this weekend. Now I just hope Mr. Amazon delivers my drill adapter by Friday. I’ve been drilling holes with my hand auger, and I have no good reason for not buying an adapter for my drill before now. Shame on me.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
BJ and Drew discuss the Vikings offense on Unbelievable! - Where Does the Vikings Offense Stand?.
Other Vikings/NFL news and random oddities and annoyances:
From CBS Sports, Ben Rothlisberger met with Steelers owner Art Rooney Jr., and reports say that the meeting went well and that they’re ‘on the same page’. The 39 year-old QB has stated that he’d like to return for another season, and that he’s willing to discuss ways to lower his $41 million 2021 cap hit (you listening, Cousins?), and that was undoubtedly discussed in their meeting, unless they just talked about fishing, which would make it an even more productive meeting.
Speaking of quarterback contracts, Ian Rappaport sheds some light on talks between the Cowboys and Dak Prescott, from NFL.com.
From Fox News, the Seahawks are interested in adding Russell Wilson to the top of this off-season’s list of high-profile quarterback trades, but their expectations are approaching the status of he-who-shall-not-be-named (for those of you who are newbies to the site, that refrerence is to a certain #34 who was traded to the Vikings from the Cowboys for a haul that built the Cowboys dynasty in hte 80s/90s). Too bad for them that Mike Lynn isn’t a GM anymore.
We come to today’s media selection:
We all need a good laugh, here are some funny drunk people. WARNING: THERE IS ONE CLIP IN HERE THAT MAY BE CONSIDERED NSFW. Enjoy! (if you’re not at work, or if you work someplace where they just don’t care.
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Take the gender hatred elsewhere, it won’t be tolerated
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-If discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on, don’t forget to tip the cows and settle in, this part of the season gets long and boring.
