Hey, the weekend is almost here

Jeff George #3...

Merry Thursday, everyone!

I’m gonna hang on to the reigns and guide this stagecoach all the way to the weekend. That’s right, you poor things have to put up with me for another TWO days. Hey!? Where did everyone go? I see how y’are.

So, the trade rumors surrounging Kirk Cousins have calmed a bit, but they’re still swirling. This story from the Washington Post mentions Cousins, and also that Derek Carr is a candidate to receive a uniform change in 2021. Adam Schefter seems to think there is nothing to the Cousins to San Fran rumors, and he’s normally in the know, but he’s been wrong before, too. Like I said Monday, take anything you read with a salt block, becuase this is the beginning of the silly season, when GMs LOVE to leak misinformation as they wheel and deal before draft day. If the Vikings do trade Cousins, I would expect to see it happen after June 1st. My understanding is that if they trade him after June 1st, the Vikings would only eat $10 million in dead money in 2021 along with $10 million in 2022. If they trade him prior to June 1st, they’d eat $20 million in 2021 and $10 million in 2022. I’d get the deal done and get everything signed, and make it effective on June 2. Then go wrap Cousins and Garoppollo in bubble wrap until June 2. If I’m incorrect on the dead money, please let me know.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Rob answers all of your questions as he tore open the Daily Norseman mailbag.

Other Vikings/NFL news and random oddities and annoyances:

That was close. Over 20 Chiefs players had an appointment with a barber who tested positive for Covid-19, per Sports Illustrated. That would have changed the landscape of the game just a wee bit, replacing nearly 40% of your roster 4 days prior to the Super Bowl.

The Star-Tribune has the story of two Golden Gophers , Antoine Winfield Jr. and Tyler Johnson, and their ride to play together in the Super Bowl.

NFL.com has yesterday’s injury report where Winfileld Jr. and Antonio Brown were both limited in practice.

We come to today’s media selection:

Tjhis is a pretty good video of the Purple People Eaters. Nobody yakking, just some of that 70s NFL Film big band music and LOTS of game footage. Enjoy!

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion

-No feeding of the trolls
-Take the gender hatred elsewhere, it won’t be tolerated
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-If discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on, don’t forget to tip the cows and we have a community salt block over in the corner, in case you forgot to bring yours.
