Merry Friday, everyone!
We managed to survive most of the work week, we just have to make it a few more hours, and we’re home free. The Kirk Cousins trade rumors are still slowly churning in the vat of football news being stirred by various reporters. The fact that this is all happening just before the Super Bowl, when reporters have actual football things to talk about, gives me reason to think there MIGHT be something to the rumors. Don’t get me wrong, I have my salt block close by whenever I read or listen to any type of media, and I’m not saying I believe the rumors, but the timing is curious. If this rumor popped up in March, I would mostly ignore it. I wasn’t even going to mention it today, but then there is this very interesting little comment by a certain someone www.sl.com/nfl/2021/02/04/kirk-cousins-trade-rumors-vikings-contacted-opponents that suggests that there juuuuuuuussst might be something to the rumors. I’ll be interested to hear what you think.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
Justin Jefferson talks about his rookie season and what he expects for next year, per Chris.
Justin Jefferson also does NOT hate Kirk Cousins, also from Chris.
Chris also shared a report that DeShaun Watson would not waive his no-trade clause for the Vikings. I find that interesting. If he had to voice that decision, then am I to assume that the Vikings must have made an inquiry? Honestly, I have not been one who is in favor of giving up a bunch of picks for Watson anyway, and now I don’t have to worry about it, apparently.
Other Vikings/NFL news and random oddities and annoyances:
Over at the Patriots Wire, Rodney Harrison made it very clear that he doesn’t think the Patriots should bring Cam Newton back as their quarterback. Tell us how you really feel, Rodney.
Jim Irsay commented that Andrew Luck is ‘more retired now than he was’ in 2019, from NFL.com. I didn’t know that there were levels of retired, but apparently there are.
At Vikings.com, they’re in the film room where they break down Thielen’s best touchdowns from 2020, and you can also see Dalvin Cook’s 10 longest runs and Justin Jefferson’t 10 longest catches.
We come to today’s media selection:
Here’s George Jones along with some Looney friends to kick off our Friday. Enjoy, you wasscawy wabbits!
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Take the gender hatred elsewhere, it won’t be tolerated
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must
-If discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on, don’t forget to tip the cows and we have a community salt block over in the corner, in case you forgot to bring yours.
