Weekend Open Thread

Good Morning!

Big shoutout to Gone Fishin for carrying the Open Thread through to the weekend, after I got the mailbag posted Wednesday life intruded and I had things I had to take care of for the next couple of days along starting back on service. That’s going to happen from time to time for the next couple of months, I’ll try and make sure either Gone Fishin or GA Skol can post the thread while I’m unavailable.

Of course the big football news this weekend is the Owl; along with potential QB movement by Carson Wentz to the Bears, more speculation (or not) about Kirk Cousins and the continuing saga of DeShaun Watson. I was listening to Eric and Flipmazzi talk about the Cousins trade rumors and I think Flip hit it on the head; now is the time to trade Cousins since his trade value is at its highest especially considering the Stafford trade and (rumored) Wentz trade.

Meanwhile we’ll carry on with our news and links open thread full of crockpot recipes, nap strategies and beer recommendations; drop by for some fan wisdom, snark and it’s the weekend, time to check the beer menu and plan that Superb Owl menu.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

It looks like Justin Jefferson may have leaked who the Vikings’ new offensive coordinator will be.

Vikings news from other sources:

From Vikings.com: Head Coach Mike Zimmer and RB Dalvin Cook joined ‘Good Morning Football’ on Friday. Zimmer discussed the team’s stance on QB Kirk Cousins moving forward, how to best defend Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay offense and more, while Cook hit on his career season in 2020 and looks ahead to 2021.

Last March, Tampa Bay went all in with the signing of Tom Brady, a get-rich-quick scheme that paid off handsomely. Now, after the Bucs’ success, many in this copycat league are bracing for falling dominos, with unprecedented quarterback movement this offseason.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to wash your hands, tip your waiter from a safe distance, try the tiger meat, and Welcome Aboard!
