This is it, ladies and gentlemen. The final game of the 2020 NFL season is upon us, and although the Minnesota Vikings won’t be playing, I’m sure that everyone will be watching it anyway.
Yes, we’re a little more than 24 hours away from the kickoff of Super Bowl LV in Tampa, wherein the reigning, defending, undisputed champion Kansas City Chiefs look to be the first team in nearly two decades to repeat as they take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the first team to play in a Super Bowl in their home stadium.
Yeah, I know. . .sigh.
Anyway, a quick review of how last week’s picks went, mostly because. . .well, I did pretty damn well for myself.
- Christopher Gates: 6-0 (2-0 straight up, 2-0 against the spread, 2-0 over/under)
- Ed Brodmarkle: 4-2 (1-1 straight up, 1-1 against the spread, 2-0 over/under)
- Warren Ludford: 3-3 (1-1 straight up, 1-1 against the spread, 1-1 over/under)
- Eric Thompson: 0-6 (0-2 straight up, 0-2 against the spread, 0-2 over/under)
Yeah, Eric had a rough week last week, but I’m happy to report that after 19 weeks his reverse jinxing of the Green Bay Packers finally stuck. Thanks, Eric!
So, here’s where that puts us for the postseason.
- Warren: 23-13 (8-4 straight up, 7-5 against the spread, 8-4 over/under)
- Ed: 22-14 (8-4 straight up, 8-4 against the spread, 6-6 over/under)
- Chris: 20-16 (8-4 straight up, 7-5 against the spread, 5-7 over/under)
- Eric: 18-18 (9-3 straight up, 6-6 against the spread, 3-9 over/under)
With that, here are our picks for the big game. . .and, thanks to our friends at Tallysight, we not only have our picks for Sunday’s contest, but we’ve got a handful of prop bets that we’re doing as well, all the way down to the coin toss. Here’s what we’ve got for tomorrow’s action.
As you can see, we are split right down the middle as to who we think will be bringing home the big silver trophy. Ed and Eric are looking for a repeat for Kansas City, while Chris and Warren are both taking the hometown Buccaneers to get a seventh ring for Tom Brady.
Eric and Ed also both have the Chiefs covering the spread, which is -3. Obviously, Warren and Chris both have the Bucs beating the spread with their outright win.
We’re mostly expecting a high-scoring game, with three of us taking the “Over,” which is currently either 56 or 56.5, depending on when our picks were submitted. Only Warren is expecting this one to be under the number.
You can peruse the rest of the prop bets on your own. Though I will point out that three of us are expecting the coin toss to land on “heads,” while Eric is apparently subscribing to the old adage that “tails never fails.”
That’s our final set of picks for the 2020 NFL season, folks. We want to thank the folks at Tallysight for bringing us this great platform for putting our picks out there, and we definitely want to do it again next year. Maybe we can even get some more people involved as well.
Thanks for following along with our picks this season, and we hope that you did better than we did. Well, better than I did, anyway.
