Happy Monday, everyone!
Little fishin’ turns 6 today, it’s hard to believe it’s been that long since he was born. We had his birthday party on Saturday, fun was had by all. We haven’t had that many kiddos in our house at one time, it was fun to hear all the chaos, it sounded like a herd of buffalo were running around. Our kiddo isn’t as rambunctious as most kids his age, he likes to have fun and play but he’s pretty quiet compared to most, except when there are 6 other kids his age to run around with, apparently, It was fun to watch, and the ice cream cake was delicous.
Congrats to the Tampa Bay Buccanneers on their Super Bowl win yesterday. KC got that first field goal, but Tampa answered with 7, and then they had the game in control the rest of the way. Mahomes was off, I wonder if the foot injury was giving him problems, because he was not accurate and he didn’t have as much zip on the ball as usual. That’s what it seemed like to me, anyway, but that’s going off of the limited number of times I’ve watched hm play, so I could be wrong. Anyhow, the NFL off-season now officially upon us. Football news will be at a standstill, and before too long, journalists will be reaching for ANYTHING football-related to write about. You’ll start seeing stories about how the third-string safety’s ex mother-in-law’s friend’s cousin’s fiance’s uncle’s dog has markings that look somewhat similar to a Super Bowl trophy.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
Wludford shares his thoughts on how to build a Super Bowl Winning Team.
From Chris, Adam Shefter reported that the salary cap is projected to be around $180 million in 2021. Just think, it it remains at that amount for 2022, we’ll be spending 25% of the salary cap on one player. Sheesh.
Justin Jefferson was hosed and did not win the NFL rookie of the year award. Also snubbed was Jared Allen, who was not selected to the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibiilty.
Other Vikings/NFL news and random odditiesa and annoyances:
Here’s a recap of yesterday’s Super Bowl, along with highlights and analysis, courtesy of FoxSports.
CBS Sports has details on the tentative off-season schedule that the NFL sent to agents.
Here is the list of those who were selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame this year, from NFL.com.
We come to today’s media selection:
I love me some old country (real country), and although this singer isn’t as well known as some, I think he’s one of the all-time greats. This is Vern Gosdin, enjoy!
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Take the gender hatred elsewhere, it won’t be tolerated
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-If discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on, don’t forget to tip the cows and settle in, it’s going to be a long off season.
