Weekend Open Thread

Good Morning!

The plan at my house this weekend was to smoke a pork shoulder tomorrow, however life intruded in the form of a fraudulent charge on one of my credit cards, one of my kids having his phone destroyed on buried rocks while he was surfing and my car deciding it needed new front tires. We’re not having smoked pork tomorrow, hopefully Saturday is a little more chill and I’ll be able to get to the store and get the smoker ready for a cook on Sunday. Meanwhile, we’ll carry on with our news and links open thread full of crockpot recipes, nap strategies and beer recommendations; drop by for some fan wisdom, snark and it’s the weekend, time to fire up that mock draft simulator, bonus: almost time for free agency.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Chris notes the Vikings restructure Britton Colquitt’s contract, gain $1.3M in cap space.

Vikings news from other sources:

From Vikings.com: Vikings.com’s Gabe Henderson was joined by NFL Network and FOX Sports’ Peter Schrager as he shared his thoughts on the current state of the Vikings and what could lie ahead for the team this offseason heading into the 2021 season.

Vikings 2021 Free Agency Outlook: Linebackers.

League News:

2021 NFL free agency: Ten boom-or-bust candidates (plus team fits)

Tom Brady, Buccaneers agree to terms on one-year extension.

North Dakota State, Oklahoma pro days: Trey Lance draws Josh Allen comp.

We come to today’s media selection: Hamilton: An American Musical FULL SOUNDTRACK

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to wash your hands, tip your waiter from a safe distance, try the brisket, and Welcome Aboard!
