Happy Monday, everyone!

Well, there were a couple of significant Vikings-related and NFL-related events that happened over the weekend. I’m sure most or all of you have heard that Drew Brees has announced his retirement from the NFL. I’m not going to comment, since 2009, I haven’t had a very high opinion of Brees (and an even lower opinion of Sean Payton, and my opinion of Greggggggggggggg Williams is lower than the deepest layer of frog s**t in the New Jersey swamp), so I’ll just say nothing, other than that he retired, which he did. Another item of importance to the Vikings is that the team, in their quest to squeeze every penny of cap space they can out of anything that will produce it, has worked out a deal with Anthony Barr to restructure his contract. As of this writing, all I’ve heard is that the agreement will lessen Barr’s 2021 cap hit, and will allow him to hit the market as a free agent in 2022, 2 years earlier than he would have been able to previously. I’m guessing we’ll hear more detail today.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Other Vikings/NFL news, and random oddities and annoyances:

We come to today’s media selection:

How about watching a REALLY good football game? Okay! Here you go, it’s the 2009 Vikings-Cowboys divisional round matchup. This was a fun game to watch. Enjoy!

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Take the gender hatred elsewhere, it won’t be tolerated
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-If discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on, don’t forget to tip the cows and settle in, this part of the season gets long and boring.
