The “legal tampering” period. . .which still may have a dumber name than any event in the sports world. . .got underway a few hours ago, and while there have been plenty of stories about free agents agreeing to terms with new teams, the Minnesota Vikings have kept one of their own in the house.
Per numerous sources, the Vikings have re-signed backup offensive tackle Rashod Hill to a one-year deal. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately made available.
Hill went undrafted out of Southern Mississippi in 2016, and was grabbed by the Vikings off of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad late in that season. Since signing with the Vikings, Hill has played in 59 games and gotten 17 starts, seeing time at both left tackle and right tackle during that time.
Re-signing someone like Hill isn’t the sexiest move a team can make in free agency. . .and I certainly hope that it isn’t the sexiest move that the Vikings make in free agency this year. . .but Hill has been fairly reliable over the past few years and it’s nice to have someone like him in the fold that can step in and do the job when called upon.
