Vikings Sign LB Nick Vigil

The former Charger is coming to MN

NFL: Los Angeles Chargers at Las Vegas Raiders Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Vikings have signed Nick Vigil to a one-year deal. It looks like Nick will be the leading contender for the 3rd LB role with Eric Wilson leaving in free agency.

Nick Vigil was a tackling machine at Utah State coming out of college. He played 4 years in Cincinnati and his best year was 2019 with 111 tackles starting all 16 games. Nick went to the Chargers last year and only got two starts in 15 games played, but still had a respectable 50 tackles. He isn’t a sack artist or pass-rushing specialist with only 4 sacks in his career.

The deal Vigil signed is a one-year, $1.75 million deal with $1.35 million guaranteed. With incentives, the deal could go as high as $2.35 million. (Those numbers come from Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.)

It isn’t a sexy signing, but it does give the Vikings some nice depth at linebacker.

Welcome to Minnesota, Nick Vigil!
