Merry Tuesday, everyone!

We’re trudging along through this agonizingly slow period of the already slow NFL off-season. But hey, there’s good news! Well, at least it’s good news for we who are baseball fans, Major League Baseball spring training is underway for many teams. Yes, the 2nd best part of spring is here, or almost here. The best part of spring is, of course, when the ice goes away and gives us access to open water fishing, but I’ll take the second-best part of spring for now. Go Braves! and.........SKOL!

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Rob opened up the Daily Norseman mailbag. If you have a question for Rob, Tweeter him at Rob@DN1.

For your listening enjoyment, here’s Vikings Report With Drew And Ted, Episode 9.

Other Vikings/NFL news and random oddities and annoyances:

The mass exodus of talent out of Houston continues. JJ Watt signed a two-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals, per NFL.com. It appears that the deal is worth around $31 million, and adding the 31 year-old DE gives the Cardinals a boost on the defensive side of the ball and gets that team trending upward, which is the opposite direction that the Texans have been trending. After winning their division in 2019, they had an abysmall off-season, then a horrible 2020 season, and the free fall appears to continue. Yikes.

From CBS Sports, Major League Baseball has altered the baseball in order to “deaden” the ball slightly for the 2021 season. I’m in favor of the move, they made a lot of changes to the baseball in the past in order to jack up the home-run count, it’s about time they un-do those wrongs. This is coming from a guy who was a pitcher back in my high school days, so I may be just the slightest bit biased on this one.

NFL.com also maintains a tracker where you can keep up with the latest and greatest (or not so greatest, depending on who you cheer for) NFL transactions.

We come to today’s media selection:

I want to play a song about Houston, and I love me some Gatlin Brothers, so here’s their song Houston. Enjoy!

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Take the gender hatred elsewhere, it won’t be tolerated
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-If discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on, don’t forget to tip the cows and settle in, this part of the season gets long and boring.
