It’s time, once again, for our weekly update of what draftniks all over the internet are projecting the Minnesota Vikings to do in the 2021 NFL Draft. Yes, the best and most extensive Minnesota Vikings Mock Draft Database on the interwebs is up to version 5.0 as we sit about five weeks away from this year’s selection meeting in Cleveland.

As I pointed out last week, it doesn’t seem as though there are as many new mocks that are coming out each week, and most of the “regular” mock drafters don’t seem to be updating as frequently. Though we’re up to 70 mocks in our Database for this week, only about 40% of them have been added or updated since last week’s update. I’m hoping that as we get closer to the actual event we’ll start seeing some more changes and new mocks for addition to our Database, but we’ll have to see what happens.

With that, here are the 70 mocks that make up our Database for this week.

The defensive line is still dominating things, as they account for 40 of our 70 picks this week. Miami defensive end Gregory Rousseau (12 picks) and Michigan defensive end Kwity Paye (11 picks) are still holding down the top two spots, but Rousseau’s teammate Jaelan Phillips has jumped back into the third spot with nine selections this week. That has come as the expense of Alabama defensive tackle Christian Barmore, who is down to just five selections. Frankly, after the Vikings’ signing of Dalvin Tomlinson, I’d expect Barmore’s share of things to drop even further.

Penn State’s Jayson Oweh and Oklahoma’s Ronnie Perkins each hold onto one selection, while Washington defensive tackle Levi Onwuzurike is back in our Database with one pick this week after dropping out last week.

Offensive linemen are still in the second position in our Database with 21 of our 70 picks this week, and a couple of players are picking up a little momentum. Southern Cal tackle/guard Alijah Vera-Tucker is up to eight selections this week, while Christian Darrisaw of Virginia Tech is up to six picks. Northwestern tackle Rashawn Slater appears four times in this week’s update, while Texas offensive tackle Samuel Cosmi sees his name come up three times.

Again, the remaining picks are a little sparse, with just nine of them to be had for the remaining position groups. The linebackers hang on to the third spot again this week, as all three of them that are in our Database. . .Penn State’s Micah Parsons (2 picks), Georgia’s Azeez Ojulari (1 pick), and Alabama’s Dylan Moses (1 pick) hold steady from last week’s update.

Defensive backs are. . .uh, back, this week, as they have three selections among them. Our lone debuting player this week is Virginia Tech cornerback Caleb Farley, who grabbed two selections this week. The other one went to a returning player in Alabama star Patrick Surtain II.

And we still have two pass catchers in our Database, with Alabama receiver Jaylen Waddle and Florida tight end Kyle Pitts holding on to their selections from last week’s update.

Here’s what it looks like on ye olde donute graphe for this week, folks. You can click on the picture to embiggen it if that will make it easier for you to see.

And we have your second version of the “Jell-o salad” graph, showing how things have ebbed and flowed for these different prospects over the course of the last five weeks. Click to embiggen this one as well, if you’d like.

We are up to 22 different players that have been mocked to the Minnesota Vikings at pick #14 in the 2021 NFL Draft. There’s still plenty of time for things to change over the next few weeks, and we’ll be here each weekend to bring you the latest changes to what the experts are predicting for our favorite team. Enjoy this week’s update, everyone!
