Boy howdy, I certainly have gotten bad about being timely with these Mock Draft Database updates. Unfortunately, I had a research paper kicking my butt for most of this weekend, so I didn’t get an opportunity to get to this until right now. But, though it’s a day late, we are never a dollar short when it comes to the most comprehensive roundup of mock drafts focusing on your Minnesota Vikings.

We are up to 50 different mocks for this week’s installment of our Database, and there have been a couple of moves made. The same position group is still dominating everything to this point, but there have been a couple of names added at other positions that could potentially raise some eyebrows.

With that, here are the mocks that comprise Version 3.0 of your 2021 Minnesota Vikings Mock Draft Database.

There are a couple of mocks in our Database this week that have trades included. I have put those drafts in italics so that they could, potentially, make more sense.

As you can see, the defensive linemen are continuing to just crush every other position group, as they comprise 35 of the 50 selections in this week’s update. However, Gregory Rousseau now has company at the top of the list of most picks overall, as his ten selections for this week were matched by Michigan defensive end Kwity Paye. Paye had just three selections in last week’s update, so this is a pretty significant jump for him. Christian Barmore is just behind both of them with eight selections this week.

Rousseau’s teammate, Jaelan Phillips, has five selections this week to keep his name towards the top, while newcomer Ronnie Perkins, a defensive end from Oklahoma, joins Levi Onwuzurike with one selection this week.

The offensive linemen continue to hold down the second position in our Database, as they pick up nine selections this week. Christian Darrisaw and Alijah Vera-Tucker each garnered four picks this week, while Rashawn Slater hangs on with one selection.

That leaves just six selections for the rest of the field for this week, and half of those have been taken by pass catchers. Alabama wide receiver Jaylen Waddle has two selections once again this week, and he’s joined by another newcomer in Florida tight end Kyle Pitts. Pitts was drafted by the Vikings in one of the drafts involving a trade, and that’s likely what they’d have to do in order to acquire him since he won’t fall to #14. I’m not sure what people would think of this pick. . .I wouldn’t hate it, but I think some other folks might.

A pair of linebackers appear in our Database for this week, as Azeez Ojulari and Dylan Moses each have one selection. Moses is back in the Database after dropping out last week.

And, yes, one brave soul has mocked a quarterback to the Vikings at #14, as the name of North Dakota State signal-caller Trey Lance is now a part of our Database. I’m sure this won’t cause any controversy at all.

We’ve mentioned which players are new to the Database this week. Here is a list of players that have dropped out since our last update.

  • Penn State DE Jayson Oweh
  • Texas OT Samuel Cosmi
  • South Carolina CB Jaycee Horn
  • Alabama WR DeVonta Smith
  • Minnesota WR Rashod Bateman

With that, here is our Donut Graph for this week, illustrating just how far the defensive linemen are above everyone else in this week’s update. You may click on the picture to embiggen it should you desire.

I know I said we were going to have the trends graph in this week’s update, but I can’t get the darn thing to look quite right, so I’m going to hold off on it until next week.

But, that’s your latest Minnesota Vikings Mock Draft Database update, ladies and gentlemen. We’ll have this thing back by Saturday next week as I’ll be free of the scourge of schoolwork for a few days.
