Happy Monday, everyone!
Alright, so the draft is merely days away, opening night from Cleveland (sorta, it’s a virtual draft thingy again this year) begins next Thursday night, April 29th, at 7pm Central. For those who are interested, Draft Experience, the NFL’s interactive football theme park, is free and open to the public, but will require registration, all the info is in the link, courtesy of NFL.com. You can find all other event information from the draft home page, from NFL.com. It appears that opening night will be highlighted by a bunch of quarterbacks coming off the board early.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
Ted and Drew talk O-line, cornerbacks, and more on Vikings Report With Drew and Ted, Ep 16.
Vhcadet posted the Stock Market Report 2.0: Free Agency.
Other Vikings/NFL news and random oddities and annoyances:
Not long aftrer signing Jadaveon Clowney, the Cleveland Browns released Sheldon Richardson, clearing $11 million in cap space, per ESPN. Richardson, who had a one-year stint with the Vikings, will continue his tour of the NFL, as he’s played for four teams thus far in his eight-year career.
According to NFL.com, the NFL intends to not discipline players for offseason “high-risk Covid conduct”. Oh, so they’re going to allow grown adults to make their own decisions and live their lives in their off-time? @How gracious of them@
For the following poll, consider this:
In order to move up to the number 3 spot in this year’s draft, the 49ers traded their 1st round pick (12th spot) in this draft, a first and third round pick in 2022, and a first round pick in 2023. So, in theory, that’s what they paid in order to acquire the third-best quarterback in the draft (I know that’s not certain, but as far as the current rankings of quarterback draftees, that’s a fair assessment
Poll
If you were the 49ers GM, would you risk that much capital for that pick? In other words, did the 9ers make a good move?

Great move, I’d do it

It’s worth a shot, I might take that risk

I don’t know, what is the draft and what does GM mean?

I wouldn’t do it, not a great decision.

Absolutely not. Is Mike Lynn their GM or what? Fire everyone in the organization, as well as Rick, gone fishin, and Rob.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Take the gender hatred elsewhere, it won’t be tolerated
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-If discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on, don’t forget to tip the cows, and settle in, it’s starting to get exciting.
