2021 NFL Draft Grades: What do you think of the Minnesota Vikings’ selection of Chazz Surratt?

A potential replacement at linebacker?

With the second of their four third-round picks in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings made what looks to be a move for the future with the selection of North Carolina linebacker Chazz Surratt.

Surratt came to North Carolina as a quarterback and made the switch to linebacker. . .a rarity, to say the least. . .before the start of the 2019 season. In both of the seasons he played for the Tarheels at the linebacker position, he was a First-Team All-ACC performer, which clearly shows that he’s got some potential at the position and still has plenty of room for growth.

The Vikings are going to have some issues at the linebacker position here in the near future. Not only are both Anthony Barr and Eric Kendricks approaching age 30, but Barr is set to be a free agent after this season following the restructuring of his deal this offseason. A player like Surratt would certainly appear to be an acknowledgment of this and he could be the guy that serves as the replacement for Barr in the next year or two.

What do you think of the selection, folks?
