It took longer than a lot of folks expected, but the Minnesota Vikings did finally select a receiver in the 2021 NFL Draft by taking Iowa wide receiver Ihmir Smith-Marsette with the 157th pick, a fifth-round selection.
Smith-Marsette has speed to burn and might have more of a future in the National Football League as a return specialist than a receiver. He might also be a bit of a gadget player if the Vikings want to manufacture some touches for him. After the Vikings’ top two names on the receiver depth chart, things are wide open, so if he can make an impression in offseason workouts perhaps he can make a contribution early on for the purple.
The Vikings still have two more selections scheduled for this year’s draft, but for now we want to know what you think about the selection of Ihmir Smith-Marsette. Sound off in the comments below and vote in our poll!
