No Open Thread for the weekend, yet? Well, this will not do. . .so, let’s get things going, shall we?
Around the DN since the last Open Thread:
We’re back to things being a little slow again, with the big news yesterday being that Christian Darrisaw and Jaylen Twyman both signed their rookie contract with the Minnesota Vikings. You can read Warren’s outstanding breakdown of Twyman right here as well. I don’t know why, but outside of Darrisaw, Twyman might be the member of our draft class that I’m the most excited about.
Around the NFL:
The big story yesterday was that the Denver Broncos released offensive tackle Ja’Wuan James. James suffered a torn Achilles while working out away from the Broncos’ facilities because the NFLPA had urged its players not to work out at the facility. The problem lies in the fact that, because James was not working out at the facility, the injury was considered “non-football” and the Broncos were able to release him with a “non-football injury” designation, essentially voiding his contract and getting out from under the guaranteed $10 million he was due for this season. There will be lawyers, because why not?
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Take the gender hatred elsewhere, it won’t be tolerated
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-If discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
Media Selection of the Day:
Here’s an oldie but a goodie from a couple of guys that I. . .and I’m sure at least some of you. . .grew up watching.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on, don’t forget to tip the cows, and settle in and join the party.
