Merry Tuesday, y’all!
This will be a bit brief, so my apologies. My son, Little Fishin’, had soccer practice last night. Yes, despite my best efforts, he enjoys playing that horrific
spor.......game. I guess I can’t blame him, I enjoyed track, the running was relaxing to me, it still is, and I guess track is somewhat similar to soccer in some ways. You run a lot, and.........well, it’s similar in one way. In track, you don’t have to worry about riots in the stands, mainly because there’s usually nobody in the stands. In soccer, you have to be prepared to flee, in the unlikely event that the fans wake up, because when they do, there will be a riot. I wear my running shoes to all events, so I’ll be ready to grab the kiddo and get us out of there when the riot begins, then we can go fishing. That thought is my happy place during these events. Anyway, he had soccer last night, we got home late, I worked on the boat, and now it’s past my bedtime, so I’ll quit jabbering, put up some links, and get to bed. SKOL!
Around the DN since our last open thread:
The Denver Broncos have hired Kelly Kleine to be their Executive Director of Football Operations, I can’t see the name Kelly without thinking about that Cheers episode when Woody wrote that song for his girlfriend, Kelly. Remember that? Kelly Kelly Kelly Kelly Kelly Kelly Kelly Kelly Kelly of mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine. I loved that show, and that was one of the greatest episodes.
Rob busted open the Daily Norseman Mailbag, and he has the answers to all of life’s mysteries. Well, he has answers to questions from the open thread audience, which is pretty much the same thing.
Other Vikings/NFL news and random oddities and annoyances:
Some random signing news via NFL.com: the Pats re-signed Hoyer the Destroyer, the 49ers signed former Jags WR Marqise Lee, and the Bengals signed former 49ers slot WR Trent Taylor. I think he sang Wall to Wall, I love that song. No wait, that was Johnny Taylor, I was close.
I’m bringing back the media selection for those of you who haven’t seen the Cheers episode I mentioned.
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Take the gender hatred elsewhere, it won’t be tolerated
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)|
-If discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags|
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer|
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on, don’t forget to tip the cows, and settle in and join the party.
