Monday Open Thread: May 24, 2021

Happy Monday, everyone!

Here we go with another exciting and fun-filled work week. I hope all of you enjoyed your weekends. I enjoyed mine, but my joy was offset by mother nature. All week last week, it was in the low to mid eighties and very little wind. Friday, about 2 minutes before I left work, it started raining, cooled off, and pretty much stayed that way through yesterday evening, so we ditched our camping plans, and I got zero fishing done all weekend. That does not sit well with me, I plan to get out after work any night I can this week to make up for it.

Not much happening in the NFL world, it doesn’t appear, which is good. No news is good news this time of year. (If you’re confused by the subheading, it’s my buddy’s birthday today.)

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Chris shared a trio of good news stories about the good guys. The Vikings will enter 2021 as one of the NFL’s youngest teams, and they’re projected to be one of the NFL’s top offenses in 2021. To cap it off, PFF gave the team very high marks in their 2020 NFL draft re-grade. You can’t argue with the first story, it’s math. I agree with the third story. The second story.........that would be nice, let’s hope they’re right.

Other Vikings/NFL news and random oddities and annoyances:

From NFL.com, the Patriots have reportedly had internal discussions about acquiring WR Julio Jones. Good, the Patriots front office folks talk to themselves, too, I’m not alone.

Well, that ended quickly. The 49ers released WR Marquis Lee, per ESPN. No big deal, until you realize that they just signed the guy four days prior to relasing him. No word on why they chose to release him.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Take the gender hatred elsewhere, it won’t be tolerated
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)|
-If discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags|

-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
