This coming Monday marks Memorial Day, as we take the time to remember those men and women that gave their lives as members of the United States Armed Forces. A former member of the Minnesota Vikings, who has done great things for the veteran community over the years, is hosting an event to raise funds for his charity and everyone is invited to check it out.

In conjunction with his Homes for Wounded Warriors charity, Jared Allen is hosting the Eighth Annual Memorial Day Fitness Challenge on Monday at Nelson Lakeside Park in Long Lake. He put together a video inviting anyone that wants to participate to come out regardless of their fitness level.

The primary Workout of the Day for the challenge is what is known as the “Murph,” which consists of a 1-mile run, followed by 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, and 300 squats, and capped off with another 1-mile run. All of that is generally done while wearing a weighted vest or body armor and is an incredibly difficult workout to complete. However, if you don’t feel that you’re capable of doing something quite that intense, there are other customizable workouts that you can do as part of the challenge as well.

If you are not inclined to participate in the workout challenge but would like to donate to Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors, you can do so by making a donation right here. The goal is to raise $10,000 for the charity over the course of Memorial Day weekend, and they’re already about 10% of the way there.

So, if you’re in awesome shape. . .or even if you’re not. . .you can do your Monday workout for a good cause with Jared Allen and company. If anyone makes the trek, let us know how it went!
