Merry Wednesday, everyone!
We’ve reached the peak of this fun-filled week, it’s a smooth downhill coast into another beautiful weekend. The weather is supposed to be beautiful here, I foresee many hours spent on the boat on a quest for walleye, or whatever decides to bite. I’m not picky. I know some folks will eat nothing but walleye, but I’ll eat northern, muskeye, bass, catfish, anything like that, especially this time of year. Spring fish caught in that icy cold water is one of life’s true pleasures. Now, going over in a kayak in that icy cold water is not so fun, neither is losing your tackle box.....and phone.....and fishing pole.......and 4 beers......and.....
On a football note, what are we looking forward to now? We made it to free agency, then survived the wait until the draft, I suppose the next footbally event of any significance will be training camp, and who knows what that will look like this year, they might be practicing via Madden on the X Box or whatever the new game thingy is
.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
BJ Reidell and Drew Mahowald discuss the Vikings draft picks on Unbelievable! - Beauty in the Process.
More for your listening pleasure from Arif, with Norse Code Podcast Episode 372: Trading Down.
wludford breaks down Viking draftee Chazz Surratt.
From Chris, the Vikings announce uniform numbers for the 2021 Draft Class.
Other Vikings/NFL news and random oddities and annoyances:
From FoxSports, the Vikings plan to sign Mankato WR Shane Zylstra. Zylstra led all of Division II in receiving yards in his 2019 senior season. Hopefully he can come in and light up the league like Thielen has.
I’ve always been a fan of Terry Bradshaw, and now I like him even more. From the USA Today, Bradshaw called A-a-ron Rodgers ‘weak’ over his latest drama episode with the Packers. There is lots of talk about where Rodgers may wind up, but I have to ask, why does anyone really want him? I know he’s one of the best quarterbacks in the league, but dude’s a serious head case, I think he’s got some wires crossed. I mean, his own family doesn’t even talk to him. That’s.......significant, and rumor has it that the Packers would expect two first-round picks in return for Rodgers (and all his baggage). Let’s see what the superior football minds on the open thread think.
Poll
If you were an NFL GM, would you be willing to part with 2 first round picks and likely more in order to acquire Rodgers?

Yes, and you’re dumb for thinking we shouldn’t
-
24%
Yeah, I’d have to consider it at least
-

I don’t know
-
12%
I doubt I would do that, but it’s possible

Nope, not happening. I wouldn’t give up that much for someone that old and with that much baggage and drama.
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Take the gender hatred elsewhere, it won’t be tolerated
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-If discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on, don’t forget to tip the cows, and settle in, it’ll be a while until the real show starts.
